Is my data stored securely?

Oitava only stores what you import — trade dates, tickers, quantities, prices, and fees. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe — card details never touch our servers. Your data is stored in an encrypted database hosted on Railway, a secure cloud platform with SSL/TLS encryption, isolated database instances, and strict access controls. We don't have read access to your broker accounts, unless you specifically choose to synchronise your portfolio with the brokerage API (only available for Trading 212).

What is the "All Portfolios" view?

Once you have more than one portfolio, Oitava automatically creates a combined view that aggregates everything across all your accounts — total net worth, unrealised gains, dividends, and performance — so you can see your complete investment picture in one place.

Which countries does the tax calculator cover?

Built-in tax defaults are available for 10 countries: Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia, and Sweden.

What do IRR and TWR mean?

Accepted Answer

IRR (Internal Rate of Return) is money-weighted: it measures your personal return, accounting for the timing and size of every deposit and withdrawal. It answers "how well did I actually do?" TWR (Time-Weighted Return) strips out the effect of cash flows to isolate the quality of your investment decisions. It answers "how good is my strategy, independent of when I added or withdrew money?" Use IRR to assess your real-world outcome; use TWR to compare your strategy against a benchmark fairly.

How does benchmark comparison work?

Rather than simply showing what the S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, or MSCI World returned in a given period, Oitava builds a trade-synchronised shadow portfolio: a simulation of what would have happened if you had invested the same amounts of money, at the exact same times, into the index instead of your actual stocks. This makes the comparison personal and fair — it accounts for your specific deposit and buy/sell timing. TWR then compares the quality of your stock-picking strategy with cash flow effects removed, while MWR compares the money-weighted outcome including the impact of when and how much you invested.

Why does the Analysis tab show no data?

Financial analysis covers S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, and STOXX 50 companies. For other stocks, portfolio tracking, performance, and dividends all work normally — only the Analysis tab will be empty. We are working to expand this to more stocks.

Question 7

What is the earnings calendar?

Accepted Answer

The earnings calendar covers upcoming and past reports week by week, with two views: your tracked holdings or the broader market. For past weeks, it shows EPS and revenue estimates vs actuals, surprise percentages, and the stock's market reaction. For upcoming reports, it shows last year's actuals alongside analyst estimates so you can see what growth is expected. Click any company for a deep-dive panel with an AI-generated summary of the report, revenue and EPS history charts, and EPS surprise history. Full earnings call transcripts are also available for each quarter, with a speaker-by-speaker view of the call and an AI-generated summary covering key highlights and Q&A exchanges between analysts and management.
